I’ve wanted to make a wide-wale corduroy pant for a really long time. The problem was finding the right fabric.
I searched and searched, but it seemed like every corduroy I came across had stretch in it. And I really, really didn’t want stretch. I wanted that buttery-soft, 100% cotton corduroy — the kind that feels substantial and cozy, with a beautiful wide wale and that unmistakable texture under your fingertips.
The search was worth it, because these pants take me straight back to a pair I had as a kid.
They were teal, I think, with a wide elastic waistband and a big, almost hammer-pant silhouette. They were my absolute favourite pants. I can still remember how they felt on my body, which is a funny thing to be able to recall so vividly from childhood.
At one point, I got black tar all over them. I remember begging my mom to help me get it out, but it was impossible. So I just kept wearing them for months, covered in black tar, because I loved those pants so much that I didn’t care.
The Jules pants are very much a reference to those childhood favourites. They have that same relaxed, generous shape and the kind of comfort you want to live in. The soft, tactile feel of the cotton corduroy makes them even better — they’re cozy, substantial, and just really satisfying to wear.
For this release, we’re bringing them to you in three colours. The everyday neutrals are the kind of pants you’ll reach for constantly, while the baby blue feels like a particularly special nod to those teal pants I loved so much as a kid.
We’ve also added our new red patch to the back pocket, a little detail that makes these feel extra special.
I’m so excited to finally share these with you. Sometimes the best pieces come from an idea you’ve carried around for years, waiting for the right materials to bring it to life.
The Corduroy Jules arrive tomorrow. I can’t wait for you to meet them.
